What are your plans for this year? Are you going on a diet? Are you vying for a promotion at your job? Are you going on vacation? Did you make resolutions? Does it matter?
A “new year” always brings those new beginnings. The real question is whether or not those new beginnings you hear so much about actually take place. Think about it like this, have you set a goal for yourself at the beginning of a “new year”? Follow up question, have you set a goal for yourself at the beginning of a “new year,” then given up? What was your excuse? Did you find yourself saying, “maybe next year?”
I have a big problem with that. Honestly, what would the world be like if we didn’t celebrate the “new year”? Why do we use the “new year” as a crutch to finally decide to put ourselves out there and do something (I’m a victim of this as well.)
It’s high time we stop limiting ourselves to this “new year” mentality. If there’s something you want to do, something you want to accomplish, go out and do it! Start today, start tomorrow, start a month from now, July, February, September, it doesn’t matter, as long as you do it!
Don’t fall into that trap and end up saying “maybe next year.” We should all be saying “the time is now.”
